Celebrity Wife Swap, Gary Busey and Ted Haggard swap wives. Ted Haggard is still married, and to a woman no less.

Glee is showing a repeat of ‘Rumors’, a fantastic episode featuring the music of Fleetwood Mac. Naya Rivera‘s (Santana) cover of ‘Songbird’ will have you in tears. If it doesn’t then you have no soul.

Monday Ratings

3 Jan

The Bachelor is back. Celebrity Wife Swap premiered ( the end of civilization) and CBS’ was all new.

So who won you ask? One Guess, no surprises here – CBS with a 3.7 rating and a 9 share ABC was distant second with a 2.4 rating and a 6 share.

Top Shows last night

2 1/2 Men 4.4 rating and a 10 share with 13.8 million viewers

2 Broke Gilrs 4.3 rating and a 10 share with 12 million viewers

The Bachelor was down 17% from the previous year (maybe there is hope for us yet)

However Celebrity Wife Swap premiered higher  than the last two episodes of Castle. I hope it was just the curiosity factor and this show will go quietly into the night.

Monday 12/19 What You Should Watch

19 Dec

It’s the week before Christmas, lets see what the networks have in store for us.

Terra Nova’s season finale airs tonight. I didn’t watch this one, and the word on the street is it may not be back. I sure do wish Jason O’Mara would land on a show that lasts. This is his second time up at bat.

CBS comedy block and Hawaii 5-0 are repeats.

ABC has on some holiday specials and a Castle repeat

The CW has 2 full hours of Hart of Dixie repeats.  At 8 they are showing “In Havoc and In Heat”, a fun outing, that used old “heat wave” plot device to allow the characters to go a little sexy-crazy.

Hart of Dixie

The heat wave in Bluebell causes everyone to lose their inhibitions; Lemon readies herself for George’s family.

Terra Nova

Lucas, Mira and the mysterious Phoenix group try to pillage the past; Taylor and Jim team up to take a stand; a decision permanently changes life in Terra Nova.

It’s Wednesday, hump day, usually a day of joy for Revenge is usually gracing my TV screen. But not tonight.

Revenge is not on tonight!!!  BOOOOO!!! Stupid Country Music Awards

Actually all of ABC’s Wednesday night line up is wiped out. I can’t wait to see if the ratings the CMA’s pull down compare to what ABC has been pulling down with it’s comedy block plus Revenge over the past few weeks.

This is your chance to check out the truly creepy, and brilliant American Horror Story

American Horror Story

Episode: Piggy Piggy
Constance gets Violet’s assistance with Tate; Ben helps a new patient confront his fears.

TV Monday 10/23 What YOU Should Watch

The Love Boat

Image via Wikipedia

I havent’ watched broadcast TV on Saturday nights since ABC cancelled the greatest Saturday night line up, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island.  Who knew Lauren Tewes was a cokehead, Gopher would grow up to be senator and Ricardo Montalban was the orignal world’s most interesting man.  Khan!!!!!!!

I watch cable, HBO, Cinemax and Starz always première a new movie on Saturday, odds are I have already seen it, but I still check it out.

A little TV news

Friday night ratings.

  • Ratings are defined as the estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
  • Share (of Audience) is defined as the percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

For example, last night’s Blue Bloods had a 1.7% rating with a 5% share, for the adults 18-49 demo. That means 1.7% of TVs were tuned to Blue Bloods, 5% is the number of people (not homes) were watching.  Even though they had 10 million viewers,  ABC’s 20/20 still won the time slot because they had a 2.1 ratings and a share of 6, but only 7.6 million viewers.

The key demographic, is adults 18-49, this is the demo that advertisers like the most because that demo is more likely to be swayed by advertisers and spend money. If you want to attract top advertisers and get them to buy ad time, you want your show to score with that group.

When you look at how one of your favorite shows is doing, and you are trying to determine if it will be cancelled keep the Adults 18-49 demo number in the forefront of your mind.  TV By The Numbers has the full breakdown for last night.

Living in a TV World

9 Oct

If you could live in a TV show which one would it be?

My blog is named TV Happy Place, because TV is my happy place,  nothing is more relaxing or enjoyable then sitting in front of my TV and having a great episode of my favorite show or good movie wash over me.  Allowing me to tune out my day and focus on the made up world of other people.

Worlds where everyone has a beautifully furnished apartment, an awesome car, the perfect wardrobe, Apple computers, perfect hair and make-up and friends.  It doesn’t matter if their salary supports any of this, that is irrelevant in TV land. If you want reality watch the Discovery Channel and stop throwing logic at my fantasy world.

Back to my question, which TV show would you live in and would you want to take over as a main character, a supporting character or a background player?

Over the years there have been many shows I would have happily traded this life for, interestingly enough as much as I love it, Buffy The Vampire Slayer was never one of those shows. Not sure why, not that Sunnydale, the Scooby Gang, Buffy, Spike and Angel weren’t awesome it wasn’t dreamy enough. I was happy watching from afar, too much angst.

If I got the chance today, I would have to pick Revenge (ABC Wednesday at 10pm). First of all, The Hampton’s and you know what they say, location. location, location.  Second, everyone is rich , they live in fabulous homes on the beach, they wear beautiful clothes, throw incredible parties and everyone is kissing their asses.  Granted there is this pesky revenge plot thing, where people’s lives are being destroyed, that definitely dampens the mood.   To avoid being a target I would either choose to be Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) or Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann).

Why these two characters, Emily is doing all the revenge, so basically she is having all the fun, Nolan is free from her sights and his helping her, not to mention he is a computer genius and filthy rich.

Next I would have to pick Glee (Fox Tuesdays at 8pm), I am a sucker for a spontaneous musical number, I wouldn’t to take over an existing characters life, I would like to be a new member of the Glee club, and Puck’s new GF.

Lets hear from you in the comments, what TV show past or present would you like to live in, and what character would you be.

Revenge Plot

30 Sep

So, you’ ve decided to seek revenge. Where do you start, it’s not like you can Google Revenge Consultants. Trust me I tried, so I guess we will have to apply some good old fashion project management to our plan.

First, don’t write anything down and if you do write it in code, that way if anyone finds your notes they won’t know what you are up to. Make up a code, like a doodle code, only you will know that your doodle of the box with a heart in it = the word revenge.  To everyone else it will look like you are obsessive compulsive about doodling.

Set a goal, what level of revenge are we going for; low, medium, high or super high.

Here are some examples

  • low – Neet hair remover in the shampoo, or ExLax in the brownies
  • medium - breaking up their relationship or marriage (only use this if there are no children involved, too much collateral damage)
  • high – get them fired
  • super high – a public humiliation so great they must change their name and move out of the country

None of my revenge levels include murder, well because murder is murder it is not revenge, you want them to suffer and death is over too soon.

I always think the best kind of revenge is the one that doesn’t happen right away. The person who has done you wrong, will be lulled into a false sense of security, they will think you have moved on and all is forgiven, and then wham! You strike, you do it in such a way that they don’t know it is you. They may even confide in you about the terrible events as they unfold, what better way to get satisfaction then to see the slow mental deterioration of another humans’ life and soul.

We have a goal, we have selected a level, now we need to figure out a budget.  This is where time is helpful, we can save up for our revenge plot, skip a few lattes, movies and mani-pedis and your revenge kitty will be stocked in no time.

Wardrobe, very important, if the movie V for Vendetta taught me anything, it is the importance of wardrobe, having the right look makes a big difference.

Research, go to the classics, Shakespeare had some of the best revenge plays ever, Hamlet, Othello, if you want something more modern The Godfather saga, it is packed with revenge, but again with the murder, and horses heads.

You want your revenge to be sleek and chic, so I highly recommend ABC’s new show Revenge, Wednesdays at 10pm.

It meets all the criteria, long-term planning, bank roll, fabulous wardrobe, no small children being harmed and so far she hasn’t killed anyone.

What is your revenge fantasy?  Did you ever get revenge?
