3/18 Sunday What You Should Watch

18 Mar

In one week Mad Men returns, I cant wait to see what Mathew Weiner has in store for us this season. Are you a Mad Men fan, what are your predictions for the new season?

All new episodes of our favorites tonight, Once Upon a Time and The Good Wife.

ABC also has new Desperate Housewives and GCB. Is anyone watching GCB, what do you think? I would love to hear feedback.

NBC has Celebrity Apprentice. CBS also has The Amazing Race

Top Spot – The Good Wife because Michael J. Fox is back and so is Elizabeth Reiser who played Will’s girlfriend that he dumped to get with Alicia.

The Good Wife

Financial concerns lead Alicia to reconsider Louis Canning’s (Michael J. Fox) standing job offer; Diane and Jack Copeland (Bryan Brown) reconnect.

Once Upon a Time

After Emma is forced to arrest Mary Margaret for the murder of David’s wife, Mary Margaret hires Mr. Gold as her attorney; Snow White continues to be affected by Rumplestiltskin’s potion

Bubble Watch – Is Your Show on The Bubble

24 Feb

As always thanks to Tv By The Numbers for providing the stats and analysis.

Bubble Watch is a guess on a shows future based on its performance in the key 18-49 demo.

I check the ratings for my favorite shows every week, I know most of my favorites are on the chopping block.  (sniff)

Network By Network her is what is on the Bubble (likely to get cancelled) unless all of the pilots fail miserably, these shows are getting cancelled. (maybe, we are only guessing)

The CW

Getting Cancelled

Hart of Dixie and Ringer : I am not surprised HOD is done, it started out promising, but it has crumbled into the biggest pile of crap.  Ringer on the other hand,  has turned into a tightly written noir piece, too bad it can’t find an audience.  I am going to miss Ioan Gruffod, (purr).

On The Bubble

Supernatural: Its time, the show lost its center when Kripke left, it never regained its former rock anthem glory.

The Secret Circle: The only thing that could save this show is Kevin Williamson’s overall deal with the network, minimum seasons maybe part of his contract unless they pick up one of his new pilots.

Nikita, Gossip Girl and 92010.

ABC

Body of Proof and The River – DOA or up a river without a paddle, pick your cliché

Private Practive is on the Bubble, I guess we will see how Shonda’s new pilot does.

Pretty much everything else, Revenge, Castle, Suburgatory etc are coming back,

CBS

A Gifted Man and Unforgettable – weren’t gifted, and were pretty much forgettable, they are cancelled

The Good Wife, CSI: NY, Rob and Rules of Engagement are on the Bubble. I think Good Wife and CSI will be back.

Everything else is safe for now, depends on how strong the pilots are, they may need to make a little more room. Could the original CSI hang it up, maybe CSI Miami is done for, or what about The Mentalist.

NBC

Pretty much everything they have on is in trouble, but Community, Smash, Are you There?, Chelsea and Harry’s Law are in the most.

Other shows hanging by a thread, Parenthood, 30 Rock and Up All Night.

Looks like Grimm is getting renewed as is Law and Order SVU.

FOX

It would be easier to tell you what is coming back, Glee, New Girl and Bones.

Alcatraz, Terra Nova, Napoleon Dynamite, Fringe and The Finder are likely to get cancelled.

February Sweeps Highs and Lows

23 Feb

As February 2012 sweeps draws to a close, lets take a moment to reflect on the highs and lows.

Strictly by the numbers, the Super Bowl with 113 million viewers was the big winner.  It was a pretty great game, the halftime show was ok and the commercials didn’t live up to the hype.  But the game was great.

Highs

Revenge: Who got shot? The big reveal was good, the build up was really good. The episode answered one question  and set up a whole host of others. I am really looking forward to the rest of this season.

Fringe:  Olivia remembers everything, and so is everyone else!!  Maybe Peter doesn’t have to go home, maybe they are all coming to him.

NCIS: Hello Jamie Lee Curtis.

The Good Wife: Will’s grand jury trial and suspension, Alicia and Klinda reunited and it feels so good.

House: Chases arc, House under review, now that is how you do a final season. Well done.

Downton Abbey: Grand drama as only the Brits can do it. If you missed it check it on iTunes or Netflix.

Lows

Smash: I had high hopes the pilot was strong, but the follow up episodes are tedious and Katherine McPhee can’t act.

Glee: What have they done to this show, it used to be fun, with the singing and the dancing. Not its teen marriage, suicides and car accidents. Really Quinn gets back on the cherios only to become paralyzed in a car accident. Is Ryan Murphy, the genius who brough us Nip/Tick and American Horror story even checking in on this mess anymore. The creativity is gone, the show is done.

Hart of Dixie: Big deal everyone found out Lemon found her mother, Zoe found out about Lemon and Lavon. Big Yawn Fest. Stick a fork in this on its not getting renewed.

Castle: This show has definitely lost its way. The season started strong with Beckett’s shooting and recovery, but its lost its way. The Noir episode was dull and the big two part Castle event with Jennifer Beals felt like it was missing something.

What did you think of sweeps what were your highs and lows.

2012 TV Spoilers (sort of)

3 Jan

Since the studios took over and started controlling spoilers, they have lost their zing. You can still find some renegade sites that have real honest to goodness spoilers, from someone who works in editing or got a screener.  But for the most part these are carefully crafted teasers, they don’t spoil anything, just make you want to tune in.

Much like our cheeseburger over here, false advertising.

So here are a few teasers

The Castle noir episode features a kiss. (Yawn)

The January 11th Episode of Revenge – If you have seen the preview you know we are dealing with Tyler and a serious case of the crazies.  But we will also be dealing with Amanda’s latest vengeance, a journalist played by Roger Bart. According to Mike Kelly, series creator “Emily ends up using what she knows of Amanda from juvie to help her in her quest to destroy [him]. This takedown just so happens to open up a whole new vein of intrigue and surprise and possibility that will have a great impact on Emily’s quest. It paints villains in a softer light and makes people you like seem a little darker.”

Vampire Diaries – Alaric is getting a new love interest, a doctor played by Paul Wesley‘s (Stefan) real life wife Torrey DeVitto. Considering how his last two lady loves ended up, I would warn this girl to stay away. But we hear there is going to a bit of twist to this one.

Ringer - The storyline between Juliet and her teacher is going in a surprising although contrived direction.  ( see if this was a real spoiler they would tell you, this is just a tease to get you to tune in)

The Good Wife – Expect heavy fallout from Will’s grand jury trial for judicial bribery. (well no duh, again a spoiler would tell you about the fallout)

And finally

Fringe - The show is getting ready to introduce one of its Biggest Bads yet. The “terrifying” character — who it’s worth noting will be covered in prosthetics — is doing unfathomable things to “serve his own bent logic.” The role is currently being cast.

If you want more teasing you can head over to TV Line for the full post. Let me just go on record this is nothing against TvLine or Ausiello, the studios control this stuff. That’s why it is so lame.

Sunday 12/11 What You Should Watch

11 Dec

Top Spot – Once Upon A Time

Runner Up Homeland, the bombing last week left Carrie in the hospital, her bi-polar disorder will get out of control and Saul is going to be forced to make a judgement call.

And don’t forget the season finale of Boardwalk Empire airs tonight. Rumor is a main character will be killed off tonight.

The Good Wife and Dexter are also good choices.

Tonight’s episode,  of Once Upon a Time, “The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter”, teases, “the town mourns a death” .  I seriously doubt they will kill a main character, and if they do, the death will only hold for one of the realities.  Based on the previews it looks like we will finally get confirmation that Sheriff Graham is The Huntsman, and he may be remembering his Fairy Tale life.

Once Upon a Time

One of Storybrooke’s residents starts to remember fairytale life; the town mourns a death; the Queen tries to find an assassin to kill
Snow White.

Homeland

Episode: The Vest
Carrie is hospitalized; Brody takes a weekend trip to Gettysburg.

Boardwalk Empire

Episode: To the Lost
Jimmy hopes to make amends with Nucky; Margaret considers a life-changing decision

Dexter

Dexter works to catch the Doomsday Killers; Debra’s battle with LaGuerta boils over.

The Good Wife

Alicia works to have a judgment thrown out after her client is found guilty; Alicia begins to realize the consequences of her decisions

Monday 12/5 Sunday Ratings, News, Spoilers, Gossip and more

5 Dec

Sunday Ratings

Football, Football and more football, it was the clear winner. Wonder how all the Football fans feel about Madonna doing the half time show. Is she still relevant to enough to draw a crowd?

The Simpsons and Family Guy had the highest gains, coasting to a solid second.

Once Upon A Time, fell, it still pulled a 3.1 rating, but it needs to come back up. Maybe Prince Charming’s backstory wasn’t that interesting. Next’s episode should pull in strong numbers, they are teasing a “death”.

The Good Wife was at an all time low, after seeing last nights episode I totally get it.  Big tease that something happened to Grace, big let down.  All it did was set up Alicia’s break up with Will and a possible Alicia/Kalinda reunion when Alicia finds out Kalinda found Grace.

Full analysis here TV By The Numbers

Foz is trying to boost viewers for The Finder, the sort of Bones spin-off Fox is moving Bones December 15th episode to January 12th at 8pm, leading into The Finders series première in Bones regular slot at 9pm on Thursday’s while Emily is on maternity leave. More info here

Fringe and House added 64% to the 18-49 demo in week nine of the Live+7 Ratings. It’s great that they get these numbers, but it is bitter-sweet because most advertisers don’t care about these numbers because viewers can fast forward through the commercials. Keep in mind it was Fringe’s performance in this area last year that earned it another season.  Keep hope alive.

Bubble Watch

Bubble watch predicts what may happen in May, a major part of the deciding factor in this game is the syndication rights. How much can the network get, how many episodes a show has in the can (88 is the magic number), who owns the show, is it the network or the production company.

TV By The Numbers has put all 3 CSI’s on the bubble.  Any guesses who will stay and who will go, I say everyone but the original CSI are DOA.

Also on the bubble, The Mentalist, and even though the ratings are low in its new Sunday slot the The Good Wife, will be renewed.

Here is the full list

Titus Wlliver, one of my favorite all time character actors, (Mr. Black on Lost, Glen Childs on The Good Wife) has been cast in a guest starring role on Grimm
